As Frannie Peabody Center's largest annual fundraiser, The Southern Maine AIDS Walk/5K Run unites the community in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Since 2009, the event has not only raised critical funding and awareness, but also brought people together in support of one another. Every year, over 300 participants have made their way to beautiful Ogunquit Beach for the culmination of their fundraising efforts. With over 40 community sponsors and more than 1,000 donors, the event raises over $100,000 in support of people in Maine living with and at risk for HIV/AIDS. Last year, due to COVID restrictions, the event shifted to a virtual platform. Although we were separated by distance, we remained connected by cause. The event was hugely successful thanks to everyone who shared their virtual event with us through social media and helped us raised critical funds in support of our services. Many people choose to walk in memory of a loved one they have lost to AIDS, in honor of a friend still fighting, or as a way to educate their children about an important issue that affects our community. Whatever your motivation, we hope you will join us in August for a fantastic event fueled by love and support. We remain grateful to all our supporters, and look forward to a time soon when we can be together again.
