He was a very active member of the student body, being President of several clubs including Media Production, Green Generation and the Music Club. Runkus has not limited himself in recording or performing a specific genre of music and this has set him aside from others in the field. He has articulated the following: “To say that I only do one or a few genres of music is limiting my scope. I was grown cultural, so that means, Rastafarian Roots Music, Reggae, One Drop, Dancehall, all that is natural to Jamaica is second nature to me. However, I simply do music, not just Reggae, not just Dancehall, not just Roots Rock… I DO MUSIC! That is where all those genres form from, from nothing, from free creativity without borders or restrictions”. Runkus has toured extensively and recently was included in a promotional tour of the East Coast with Kymani Marley, giving him the opportunity to showcase his repertoire of songs and his unique style. In 2016, Runkus and the Old Skl Bond toured Europe promoting the Move In EP performing on the Reggaejam Festival in Bersenbruck, Germany. They also gave an encore performance on Rototom’s Showcase Stage in Benacasim, Spain closing the tour in high spirits thus giving them the opportunity to tour the following year more extensively. The Classisin Tour (2017), saw them performing on several festivals namely Reggaejam and Summerjam in Germany, Reggae Geel in Belgium, Rototom in Spain, Rote Fabrik and Reeds Festival in Switzerland, Reggae Fever and Roots In The Park in the Netherlands, and the prestigious Boomtown Fair in England where he was well received and his fanbase expanded significantly. About Royal Blu: A native son of Spanish Town, Jamaica, Royal Blu is a versatile singer, songwriter, and lyricist who’s been hailed as “one of Jamaica’s top artists to watch” by Complex. Blu, born Sean-Michael Francis, has amassed wide recognition for his skillful blend of reggae, hip-hop, dancehall, and R&B into his own seamless style. His impactful presence has landed coverage at Complex, Fader, and BBC1, among others. He has written credits and a cameo on Protoje and Koffee’s “Switch it Up,” while his conscious verse on the anthem “5Gs,” with Kabaka Pyramid, Runkus, and Jesse Royal, has been heard on reggae radio rotations all over the world since its drop earlier in 2021. Blu’s deep-rooted devotion to Jamaican music is evident in his delivery, while his eclectic love for artists such as Nas, Michael Bolton, and Luther Vandross seep deep into his genre-defying sound. A?bout Green Lion Crew: From an early age, Green Lion Crew’s Zeke Stern and Dana Knowles became students of the sounds of Caribbean Culture. Drawing from a diverse musical blend of reggae, dancehall, electronic, and hip hop, they have become tastemakers and well-respected producers in the modern reggae scene. Recognizing talent early on and not following hype has enabled them to work with artists like Collie Buddz, Kabaka Pyramid, Chronixx, Busy Signal, Sizzla, Capleton, Jesse Royal, Dre Island, and many more. In 2019, Green Lion started working with Ineffable Records. Their first release with the label “Be Still” was released to great critical acclaim and it reached to #6 on the Billboard Reggae Charts. Green Lion Crew’s listeners continue to rise on Spotify as their single “Keep Blazin’” with Roe Summerz led to a 91% increase in listeners in one month. Productions with Collie Buddz, Chronixx, Kabaka Pyramid, Beenie Man, and Akae Beka among others have proven that Green Lion Crew can bring an effective, fresh approach to the table while showing respect to the original sound. Green Lion produced the track “Lyrics Deity” on Kabaka Pyramid’s album “Kontraband” which was executive produced by Damian Marley and released on his label Ghetto Youths International.
